10 Bold Predictions for the Vols in 2016

8. Derek Barnett will break the all-time sack record

Derek Barnett-1

Junior defensive end Derek Barnett is turning heads and already looking like a projected first- round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. In his last two seasons, he has combined for 20 sacks. In 2014, Barnett set a Tennessee record for the most tackles for loss in a season (20.5) and most sacks (10.0) by a true freshman. Last year, he finished third in the SEC in sacks with 10, which is tied for seventh-most in a season in Tennessee history.

Barnett needs 12 sacks to break Reggie White’s sack record and become the all-time leader. With they way Barnett has played the past two seasons and the unrelenting motor he has, look for Derek Barnett to become Tennessee’s all-time sack leader in 2016.
