Senior WR No Longer On Roster; Other Notes

Zach Azzanni-1

Tennessee came into 2016 with only five returning scholarship receivers on the active roster – Preston Williams, Josh Malone, Josh Smith, Jauan Jennings and Cody Blanc.

One of the five is no longer around, as Blanc, who was entering his senior season, isn’t listed on an updated roster put out by Tennessee.

Blanc recorded one career reception for 43 yards during a 2013 matchup against Alabama. The Knoxville native and Derek Dooley recruit appeared in 26 career games, primarily as a reserve and on special teams.

He was not expected to have a significant impact in 2016, though he does leave the Vols with less depth at the wide receiver position. In addition to the other four returning receivers, UT has junior college transfer Jeff George and freshmen Marquez Callaway, Tyler Byrd, Latrell Williams and Brandon Johnson as its scholarship options at receiver in camp right now.

A few other notes from the updated roster:

• TE/H-back and former walk-on Joe Stocstill is no longer on the roster

• It appears that Quart’e Sapp, who appeared in four games in 2015, was awarded a medical hardship and received a redshirt for last year. He is listed as redshirt freshman on the updated roster

• With Todd Kelly Jr. switching to No. 24 to honor Zaevion Dobson, cornerback Darrell Miller, who wore No. 24 last season, is now wearing No. 15
