Neyland-1

While we wait for the official Associated Press Preseason Poll for 2016, the AP put together an all-time Top 100 on Tuesday.

Their methodology was to “count poll appearances (one point) to mark consistency, No. 1 rankings (one point) to acknowledge elite programs and gave a bonus for AP championships (10 points).”

Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama and Southern California came in the top five. Tennessee checks in at No. 14 overall. Here’s the capsule for the Vols from this post from the AP.

The Vols come in fourth in the SEC behind Alabama (No. 4), Florida (No. 10) and LSU (No. 11) and just ahead of Georgia (No. 16) and Auburn (No. 17). While coming in 14th overall, the Vols fell just 50 points shy of the top 10 in what is a very close race between the teams between Florida and UT.

The AP has ranked college football teams since 1936.
