Backfield
QB: 1. Joshua Dobbs 2. Quinten Dormady
RB: 1a. Jalen Hurd 1b. Alvin Kamara 2. John Kelly
Thoughts: Pretty straight-forward at these spots. Dobbs is the starter. Dormady will be pushed by newcomer Jarrett Guarantano and Sheriron Jones, as that trio begins to jockey for the starting spot opening in 2017, but it looks like it’s his job to lose for now. Dormady got a ton of reps in the spring and that plays into his advantage.
There are no questions about the upside and potential for the Hurd-Kamara duo at running back. Keeping them healthy is the the biggest goal of the offseason at this spot. Rising sophomore John Kelly very well could get a few more carries in 2016, however, as they look to preserve Hurd and Kamara as much as possible and also build depth for the future.
