Jalen Hurd/Jamal Lewis
Their bruising running style and 240-ish pound frames aren’t the only things that these two backs have in common. Lewis had his UT career shortened by injury and then by going pro early, but he still played 27 games for the Vols. Hurd, through two seasons, has logged 26. Here’s a look at their per/game averages in some key areas.
Lewis: 99 yards rushing/game, .63 rushing TDs/game, 17.6 receiving yards/game
Hurd: 88 yards rushing/game, .65 rushing TDs/game, 15.8 receiving yards/game
Lewis is a touch ahead of Hurd in yardage, but Hurd actually finds the end zone a bit more frequently. If Hurd stays healthy in 2016, his overall production will be significantly better than Lewis’, but he’ll need to have a huge year to beat Lewis in per/game production.
