It’s a great time of year in college football when optimism is running high around the nation. And for Tennessee, the hype is off the rails as the Vols return one of their most experienced and talented teams in several years. Tennessee is represented everywhere on preseason polls, watch lists and preseason All-SEC teams.

The schedule works out better than it has recently, and UT very well could win the SEC East and maybe even go on to bigger and better things this season.

But while that’s where you want to be as a program in the preseason, there’s always the chance of something not working out as hoped or expected. I’m certainly not saying I expect that to happen for UT this year, but high expectations don’t always lead to big results.

Here’s a look at 10 things that could derail UT’s hype train in 2016.
