5. The Battle at Bristol
Hypothetically, Tennessee could lose to Virginia Tech in the Battle at Bristol and still accomplish all its goals (just ask 2014 Ohio State). But for a program looking to turn the corner, losing a game it will be favored in to what appears to be a mediocre, or at least unproven, Virginia Tech team, would be a big setback as the Vols head into conference play.
UT could certainly bounce back, but with games against Florida, Georgia, A&M and Alabama looming shortly after this hyped event, it’d be fair to ask if UT’s confidence will be shaken to the point that it could affect the rest of the season.
