8. Overlooking a team
Tennessee has done a good job under Butch Jones of taking care of business against teams it should beat. But with the Vols taking on a new level of favorite status in 2016, the risk of overlooking an opponent is always real.
There’s no denying that the East, especially behind UT, Georgia and Florida, is way down. But anything can happen, and Tennessee almost found that out the hard way last year against South Carolina, when it took a late fumble recovery to save what would’ve been a terrible upset loss. The Vols should waltz through the likes of Appalachian State, Ohio, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and others, but one or two slip-ups could really change the narrative of the season.
