1. UT 87’s
These uniforms are based on a one off jersey worn against California in 1987. Normally that season the Vols wore the basic orange jerseys over white pants that had two white sleeve stripes on them. But for the Game against Cal, they came out with Orange jerseys that had a dark gray trim around the numbers as well. The Vols beat Cal in the new jerseys, and then they wore an away version of that also featured a gray trim around the numbers, but lost to Alabama in them. Coach Majors apparently hated the trim around the numbers so much that he mothballed them immediately and the following games Tennessee went back to their traditional uniforms. They have never been seen since. I thought it’d be great to see these make a return if even for just one more game. The Nike version of these uses some vintage Vols logos (interlocking UT and the Vols star script) to hearken back to that time, but also have a modern look to them.
