Tennessee released its complete non-conference hoops schedule on Friday morning and it’s highlighted by a couple of the top programs in college basketball.
Most notably, the Vols will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face North Carolina on Sunday, Dec. 11. The Tar Heels are 8-1 all-time against UT with three straight wins in the series.
Other notable games include an appearance in the Maui Invitational (Nov. 21-23) with a tournament field that includes UNC, Georgetown, UConn, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Wisconsin and host Chaminade, a home contest against Georgia Tech, now coached by former Memphis coach Josh Pastner, on Dec. 3, a neutral-site game in Nashville against Gonzaga on Dec. 18 and a home game against Kansas State on Jan. 28.
The Vols will open the regular season on Nov. 3 against Chattanooga, a team that was 29-6 in 2015-16 and made the NCAA Tournament.
The rest of the schedule is expected to be announced in August, according to a release from UT.
