Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield broke Tennessee fans’ hearts when the Sooners beat the Vols last season, but Mayfield told Athlon sports that playing in Neyland Stadium was “unbelievable.”
Mayfield was asked which stadium, other than his own, that he enjoyed playing in the most. The OU gunslinger chose Neyland.
“You can’t beat the Cotton Bowl. There’s nothing like that. But last year when we went to play Tennessee in Neyland Stadium, that was probably the best game experience I’ve had and probably will ever have. That’s a different type of loud. I can’t even describe it. It was unbelievable.”
Through the drama and emotion of a narrow overtime win, Knoxville made quite an impact on the Sooners’ signal caller, just like the Vols did on OU center Ty Darlington, who had similar comments last December.
