Tee Higgins is the most important recruit for the Vols in 2017. He is the best wide receiver in the country and he lives 30 minutes from Neyland Stadium. If Tennessee can’t reel in their own back yard talent, it won’t look good from any angle. In the same breath, the 5-star Oak Ridge native recently named Tennessee his leader despite reports that Clemson had crept in as his favorite.
Higgins was once committed to Tennessee before decommitting to explore his options – and he has plenty of them, including college basketball. Higgins is the potential crown jewel of Tennessee’s recruiting class, but he understandably wants to see the Vols use their receivers more before he makes a final decision. So while he will likely wait well into the season (or later) to make a final decision, Butch Jones and his staff will be doing everything they can to convince Higgins to stay home.
