Cam Akers is a 5-star running back from Clinton, MS. He is ranked as one of the best running backs in the country and holds scholarship offers from 10 SEC schools alone. Considering Tennessee’s desperate need for running backs in the 2017 class, Akers is one of the top out-of-state prospects on Tennessee’s big board.
As of right now, signs are pointing to him staying in his home state to play for Ole Miss, but the possibility of playing early and often as a feature offensive piece is something Tennessee can offer him. And Orange Carpet Day has a way of changing the minds of high school football players. If Akers leaves Knoxville with a big orange smile on his face, don’t be too shocked.
