UT Cancels Classes for Season Opener

Tennessee’s Thursday night opener against Appalachian State just became a school holiday.

On Tuesday, the university announced that all classes will be cancelled on Thursday, September 1st.

Dave Hart says that the class cancellation meets a “collective priority” of not interrupting classes.

“We look forward to the exciting opportunity to represent our conference on the SEC Network to open the 2016 season on the first night in September,” Hart said.

The only problem? UT added a day to the end of the semester to make up for it. That extra day of classes is the same day as the SEC Championship.

If UT wins the East, students may be looking at another holiday.
