Status
As of right now, Tennessee seems to be in a tight race with Clemson for Foster’s commitment. Several other top-notch schools have been recruiting him though, and he has plenty of options. That being said, Tennessee really wants this kid and will fight to the finish for him. Foster put the Vols in his top seven in May, joining Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Stanford.

How He Fits
For an outside linebacker, Justin Foster is absolutely huge. At 6-4 260 pounds, he is already bigger than some of the defensive linemen on Tennessee’s current roster. That being said, it’s a realistic possibility that Foster could become something of a Curt Maggitt/Sam linebacker hybrid.
His film suggests his best fit would be as a pass-rusher. But make no mistake about it, he is quick enough to make plays in the open field as well. He has uncanny speed for a guy his size, which is probably why so many of the top programs in the country want him. And Tennessee is no different. Coach Shoop will make Foster a top priority for the 2017 class.
