1. Michigan
Seeing any sort of Tennessee-Michigan match-up would be a game to watch at any point in time down the road. But throw in the fact that Jim Harbaugh is the head coach of the Wolverines, and suddenly this match-up becomes about a hundred times more appealing.
The Vols and Wolverines have only played once, and that was in the 2002 Citrus Bowl that saw Tennessee dismantle Michigan 45-17. Both programs have changed drastically since then, but the animosity between the schools hasn’t waned.
Now thanks to the polarizing Harbaugh at the helm of Big Blue, this potential game would draw more national attention than almost any other game on this list.
Harbaugh has already thrown a Twitter jab towards Tennessee head coach Butch Jones, and it seems very few coaches, especially in the SEC, are fond of Harbaugh. A lot of teams want a piece of Michigan right now because of him, and the Vols are certainly high on that list. Seeing a Harbaugh-Vols game would be a contest to remember.
These two schools have had similar histories and similar trajectories, so it’s astonishing they’ve played so little in the past. Seeing another match-up between the two teams would truly be historic, and seeing it while Harbaugh is around would only add to it.
