The are some real, historic and factual reasons why this would be an enticing game. But let’s be honest, the main reason fans would want to see this game would be to settle the “who’s the real UT” debate.

Both UTs haven’t played each other since 1969, which is far too long for two schools with egos as big as these two. You have the flagship program of the state of Texas and a school that says “Go Big Orange” and sings “Rocky Top” every two minutes whenever the team succeeds. How have these two teams not played each other in almost half a century?

All three previous match-ups between the two schools came in the Cotton Bowl, and that could be a likely bowl match-up between the two in the future. But seeing a neutral site regular season game between the two would also be huge. Add in the fact that Charlie Strong, a man who once agreed to be Tennessee’s head coach then backed out, is the Longhorns’ current head coach, and there’s no reason this game shouldn’t happen sometime soon.

Plus, we need to know who the real UT is.
