This is the third time since 2012 that Tennessee’s season opener will not be played on a Saturday. It will be the first Thursday night kickoff in Neyland Stadium since 1938.
The meeting between the Mountaineers and the Vols will be the first in program history. Additionally, Tennessee will now have a few extra days to prepare for Virginia Tech in the Battle at Bristol on September 10th.
