Friday Top 10: Bold Predictions For 2016 Newcomers

5. Jonathan Kongbo will need some time

Kongbo

Jonathan Kongbo has been the conductor of the hype train for the Vols offseason. In an RTI poll in April, 77% of voters selected Kongbo as the signee they were most excited to see in the fall. He’s gained just under 30 pounds since signing day, and continues to train. However, Kongbo didn’t even start playing football until late in high school. He’s been relying on pure strength and speed up to this point, and it will take a little coaching to really get him to dominate the next level.

Coach Shoop loves Corey Vereen, who will most likely be named the “starter,” although we’ll most likely see a quick rotation of several defensive linemen. “King” Kongbo will make the spot opposite Barnett an interesting competition, but he’ll need some time to live up to the hype train he’s conducting.
