Tennessee center Coleman Thomas was named to the Rimington Award Spring Watch List on Tuesday.
The list includes 57 of the top centers from ten different conferences. The Rimington Trophy Committee took nominations from teams around the nation, who sent in their starting centers for consideration.
Thomas is one of eight players from the SEC to be selected.
Last season, Coleman Thomas played a key role in the resurgence of UT’s offensive line. Thomas started 13 games in 2015, including 12 at center.
Tennessee averaged 223.7 rushing yards per game, good for second in the SEC. The Vols’ 2,908 rushing yards in 2015 is the second best mark in program history.
After making the switch from tackle to center, Thomas excelled in 2015. By gaining experience in his more natural position last season, Thomas will be a crucial part of Mike Debord’s offense moving forward.
