RTI Recruiting Profiles: Tight Ends

Wolf-1

The tight end position has been in flux the past couple years for UT with transfers, injuries and position switches shaking it up a bit. Since the end of the 2014 season, six tight ends have departed either because of transfer or graduation.

Jason Croom and Jakob Johnson have switched positions to join the group, all the while Ethan Wolf has been the one scholarship mainstay at the spot. But Wolf has a maximum of two years of eligibility remaining, Croom is a rising senior and outside of them, it’s tough to say too much about what the Vols have at this spot right now. Ethan Wolf’s younger brother, Eli Wolf, has shown some promise, but it’s too early to say exactly how much impact he will have going forward.

Austin Pope and Devante Brooks – a pair of 2016 signees – make their way to campus this summer. The Vols hope they provide some depth and stability at the position for years to come. They’ll want to add at least one, possibly more, in 2017, however. Chase Rogers its already committed and UT might take one more if the right situation came along.

Here are some of the top names to know at the position:
