Cam Akers
Running back – 2017 Class
5-11, 225 pounds
Clinton, Miss. (Clinton)
Other top offers
Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Ole Miss
Status
Akers is one of the consensus top running backs in the nation, and one of the most coveted after he decommitted from Alabama early in the spring. He’s posted some pictures in UT gear in the past, so it’s obvious there’s some interest there, but the Vols have a lot of company in the form of the in-state schools (Ole Miss & Mississippi State) as well as powerhouses from all over the country.

How He Fits
We’ll stop short of calling Akers a “must-get” in this class, but given UT’s level of need at the running back position and his talent, he’s certainly near the top of the list of desirable prospects in this class.
Akers is the type of player who could step in day one, much as Jalen Hurd did in 2014, and be a big part of UT’s rushing game for several years to come.
