Jack Sears
Quarterback – 2016 Class
6’3, 190 pounds
San Clemente, Calif. (San Clemente)
Other top offers
Texas A&M, UCLA, Arizona State, Northwestern
Status
Sears has received early interest from a handful of Pac 12 teams, some top academic schools around the nation such as Duke and Northwestern and at least a pair of SEC teams in Texas A&M and Tennessee. UCLA is probably the biggest team to watch here, though A&M, which hired former Bruins’ OC Noel Mazzone, could be a dark horse. UT and Sears have been in regular contact and if the Vols do want a QB in this class, Sears is definitely on the short list.

How He Fits
Quarterback might be a bit of a luxury position in the 2017 class with at least three young, highly-touted signal callers set to to return in 2017 in Quinten Dormady, Sheriron Jones and Jarrett Guarantano.
The 2018 cycle, which features Trevor Lawrence and Emory Jones, two top Vol targets, might be when the Vols go all-in at the QB position again. But Butch Jones has leaned to the side of taking more QBs than less throughout his career, and it wouldn’t stun anybody to see him ink one in 2017. If that is the case, Sears, a tall, athletic, smart and accurate passer is definitely a name to watch.
