The 10 Best Recruits of the Butch Jones Era

3. Jalen Hurd

When it’s all said and done, this member of the 2014 recruiting class will likely be Tennessee’s new all-time leading rusher. And he’ll have done it in three seasons.

Jalen Hurd was a five-star running back from Hendersonville, TN in the 2014 class who had set multiple in-state rushing records at Beech. He came in to UT with high expectations, and he’s been able to surpass even those so far.

Hurd ran for 899 yards as a freshman and capped that with 1,288 rushing yards last year as a sophomore. Hurd is a powerful runner who has more speed than one would think by looking at his massive 6-foot-3, 240 pound frame. He’s a naturally gifted athlete who needs just 892 rushing yards as a junior to break Tennessee’s career rushing mark.

Hurd will go down as one of the best running backs in Tennessee history. And Butch Jones couldn’t be happier with the former in-state recruit.
