4. Jalen Reeves-Maybin
When Butch Jones brought in Jalen Reeves-Maybin out of Clarksville, TN, he originally moved the 2013 prospect to safety as a freshman. He spent his time there in his first year with the Vols and toiled away on special teams. But now Reeves-Maybin is one of the premier linebackers in the SEC.
Even when he was just on special teams, Reeves-Maybin was able to make plays. He was one of the many contributors that helped block the punt for a touchdown against Georgia in 2013, and he made several big tackles in coverage on returns. But he came into his own once he saw time at linebacker as a sophomore and junior.
Reeves-Maybin has had 100-plus tackles in each of the last two seasons, and he also chipped in six sacks and 14 tackles for a loss last year. He will be a senior starting linebacker for the Vols in 2016, and he’s likely to be named to many All-SEC and All-American lists.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin has done nothing but succeed in his time with Tennessee. The former four-star recruit has been one of Butch Jones’ best prospects.
