2017 Four-Star Defensive Tackle Commits to the Vols

The Vols picked up their highest-rated commitment in their 2017 class Friday afternoon when four-star defensive tackle Eric Crosby chose Tennessee over Virginia Tech.

Crosby hails from Virginia Beach, VA and is a consensus four-star defensive tackle across all the major recruiting services and is ranked as high as the No. 97 overall recruit in the country according to Scout. Crosby holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Florida State, and others.

As a sophomore and junior for Ocean Lakes, Crosby has totaled 59 tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks, and has recovered 2 fumbles. Crosby measures in at 6-foot-1, 285 pounds and has athleticism that belies his size. He has also been used as a power running back for Ocean Lakes, carrying the ball 18 times for 179 yards and four scores in two seasons.

Eric Crosby’s commitment gives the Vols seven known commitments in the 2017 class. His commitment also bumped Tennessee’s overall team recruiting ranking to No. 23 in the 2017 cycle according to 247Sports.
