File this one as one of the weirdest stories of the college football offseason.
Former Tennessee head coach and current Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin went on a Twitter following spree of a bunch of UT-related accounts recently.
We don’t have the exact time and date, but when you look at Kiffin’s most recent follows on Twitter, there are a ton of UT players and (not shown) official accounts from the school that he followed consecutively:
Your guess is as good as ours on this one.
*Update: He unfollowed all of them on Wednesday morning, making the whole situation even weirder

I don’t think it’s a mystery. My guess is Alabama is using analytics software to map relationships using the twitter API’s. Meaning, he follows a player, then all that player’s followers and who they are following can be mapped, and so forth. It’s a smart way to look at deep relationships… it’s all about recruiting and this is most likely the latest attempt to use technology to assist in that process. Go Vols.
Kiffin is a goofy guy. Nothing he does should be a surprise.
