Vols Get Third Commitment in Single Day

Nixon

For the third time on Saturday, the Vols picked up a commitment from a 2017 recruit. This time from a highly-rated wide receiver.

KD Nixon, a four-star receiver out of DeSoto, Texas, announced his commitment to the Vols via Twitter Saturday night. Nixon is the No. 263 overall recruit in the nation according to 247Sports and holds offers from Oklahoma State, Missouri, Arizona State, Duke, California, and others.

In three years at DeSoto, Nixon has 84 receptions for 1,191 yards and 12 touchdowns. Nixon also has 18 carries for 143 yards and a touchdown in those three seasons.

What Nixon lacks in size (he’s 5-foot-8) he makes up for in speed. Nixon has also been used as a kick returner for DeSoto, and he has a return for a touchdown as well.

Nixon is the third commitment in one day for the Vols, joining three-star cornerback Cheyenne Labruzza and three-star linebacker Solon Page III.

The Vols now have six commitments in their 2017 class, which now ranks No. 33 overall according to 247Sports.
