Top 2018 QB Is Back on Campus

Tennessee is expected to host dozens of top prospects over the weekend with Orange and White Game festivities going on, but among the biggest will be highly-rated 2018 quarterback Emory Jones.

Jones, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback from Franklin, Ga., is quickly becoming a key name to know in recruiting going forward.

Much of the buzz in 2018 has centered around quarterback Trevor Lawrence – the top-ranked player in the class and a guy the Vols are very much in on. But the coaching staff is extremely high on Jones, who is currently ranked as the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the class by 247Sports and the No. 41 overall player in the nation in 2018.

Butch Jones has said multiple times in his UT tenure that his offense can be run with any kind of quarterback, but Emory Jones falls more in line with the majority of QBs recruited to UT by Butch Jones so far like Joshua Dobbs, Sheriron Jones and Jarrett Guarantano. Lawrence falls a bit more in line with Quinten Dormady – a big guy who moves well, but isn’t necessarily a true dual threat.

So perhaps Emory Jones, who is making his second visit to Tennessee in the past two months, is emerging as the name to watch at quarterback in the 2018 class and maybe he even makes a decision this weekend.

Currently the Vols have no QB commitments in the 2017 class, and there’s a chance the Vols could pass at that position in this recruiting cycle with these big names on the board in 2018.
