The Vols were back on the practice field Tuesday afternoon after over a week off for spring break. They went full pads for about two hours on Haslam Field for the first of three sessions this week with the others coming Thursday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Green team: Linebackers Colton Jumper and Elliott Berry were in green, non-contact jerseys, as they have been the other times this spring when the pads were on. It looks like that could be be something that lasts all spring. Jones confirmed some other injury news after practice.
Passing game: We didn’t see a ton from the passing game on Tuesday afternoon with a just a few periods of practice open to the media, but it appeared to be a bit of a mixed bag as the quarterbacks and receivers worked against air. Joshua Dobbs failed to connect with his receiver at least a couple times in the portion open to the media, but also had some really nice passes.
I thought, based on the few drills we saw, Quinten Dormady had a good day. He had one particularly impressive throw intended for Vincent Perry as he threw it right towards the corner of the end zone only to have it bounce off Perry’s helmet as he adjusted for the ball. Perry was actually able to adjust and make the catch off the ricochet, albeit out of bounds by that point.
Practice visitors this week: The Vols have at least a couple guests coming in this week for practice. Second Tour, a non- profit that serves struggling U.S. military veterans, had representatives at practice on Tuesday. NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and Bristol Motorspeedway officials will be at practice on Thursday. UT says that Wallace will “participate” in the first 45 minutes of practice on Thursday as well.
