After knocking off Duke in the opening round, Mercer was America’s pick to be the Cinderella story of the 2014 NCAA tournament. It seemed that the entire town of Macon, Ga., drove up to Raleigh for this matchup, and those fans made their presence felt.
But this game was all about Josh Richardson’s scoring and Jarnell Stokes’ ability to control the glass. Richardson dropped 26 points on this night as he continued his postseason tear, while Stokes did whatever he wanted inside, collecting 18 rebounds as the Vols rolled in this one.
