Tennessee Football Recruiting Big Board: Class of 2017

Defensive Line

If there’s one position the Volunteers have been recruiting very well since Butch Jones was hired, it’s defensive line. Kahlil McKenzie, Shy Tuttle, Derek Barnett, Kyle Phillips, Jonathan Kongbo…the list goes on. But you can never have too many linemen and you can bet they will continue to seek more talent and depth at both the tackle and end positions. Here are a few of the targets Tennessee will be looking at throughout the next 11 months.

3* Rutger Reitmaier: Nashville, TN | 6’4″ 280 lbs

Rutger Reitmaier is not only a name that’d be hard to say five time fast, but is also a local talent who has reportedly had Tennessee high on his list for some time already. Being in Nashville inevitably means Vanderbilt will at least make a run at him, however it will be hard for any other team to distract him from the orange he is seeing. As we near the orange and white game, Reitmaier might be a name you hear as an early commit for this class.

4* Eric Crosby: Virginia Beach, VA | 6’1″ 285 lbs

Remember the name Eric Crosby, because where ever he goes, he will be a stud. He will likely need to add a few more pounds of muscle to really anchor the interior line, but he’s already impressive. He is listed as one of the top five players in the state of Virginia and the number six defensive tackle in the country. If he has a good senior year, both his rating and scholarship offer list will go up. Tennessee is in a good spot with Crosby for now, but as time goes on and more offers roll in, they will have to do everything to keep his attention.

4* Jordan Williams: Virginia Beach, VA | 6’5″ 260 lbs

Another Virginia Beach product headed for division-1 football is Jordan Williams. He just recently named Tennessee among his top nine along with several other schools from multiple conferences. As Tennessee continues to perform at a high level on the defensive line and will likely be sending players to the NFL very soon, it should attract players like Williams.
