When Josh Richardson signed with Tennessee in 2011 out of Edmond, Okla., as a three-star guard, there wasn’t a ton of fanfare.
The same could be said when he was picked with the No. 40 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft with the Miami Heat. In both cases, the expectations weren’t that high. And both time, it appears, that he exceeded expectations.
It’s still a work in progress for Richardson in Miami, but after having limited contributions over the first four months of the NBA season, he’s stepping his game up for the 39-28 Miami Heat, who currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference.
Richardson’s become a regular contributor for the Heat since Feb. 24, playing at least 23 minutes in every game since that point with five double-digit scoring efforts in that time as well. He put together arguably his most complete game of his young NBA career on Monday night, scoring 17 points, collecting four rebounds, three blocks and a pair of steals and assists in 33 minutes of action, which also included this thunderous dunk:
