The entire Volunteer fanbase holds its collective breath every time this is mentioned. In an interview on the Dan Patrick Show last September, Manning said that it was unlikely that he coaches, but would consider being the Tennessee quarterbacks coach someday. He certainly has the football knowledge and leadership capacity to step in to that role – or just about any other – in coaching. He’s practically been a coach on the field for decades. Jim Harbaugh, Manning’s predecessor in Indianapolis, quickly ascended up the coaching ladder, and Manning, if he had the desire, could certainly do the same.
