Call this the John Elway path, and it’s a path that Manning should be very familiar with having played in Denver, where Elway is the general manager and executive vice president of football operations. There would be several teams (cough, Titans, cough) that would be more than willing to hand over decision-making power to Manning in terms of evaluating players and running the organization on a day-to-day basis.

While Manning would likely thrive in that type of role, it is a very demanding one that is a year-round venture, especially with scouting, evaluating and everything else that comes with it. This might be something he wants to consider down the road a bit, but if he wants to stay very involved in the sport he loves, this would be a logical way to do it.
