Friday Top 10: Vols Who Need a Big Spring

5. Evan Berry, Defensive Back

Evan Berry-1-3

Speaking of that defensive backfield, Evan Berry could use a standout spring to help him land a starting job on the defense. Berry made a name for himself as a kickoff returner last year, but he also showed some flashes of potential in limited time at safety last year – most notably in the fourth quarter of the Outback Bowl when he intercepted a pass and returned it 100-yards for a score against Northwestern. Berry certainly looks like he could be a play-maker on defense, but he has not played enough snaps to prove himself other than on special teams. If Berry can have a solid spring, it will set him up well for the fall to help secure a starting spot at safety.
