7. Corey Vereen, Defensive End
Derek Barnett is the unquestioned starter at one defensive end position on Tennessee’s defensive line. But the other defensive end spot opposite him is currently wide open, and Corey Vereen has a chance to nail down that position this spring before junior college transfer Jonathan Kongbo III joins the team in the fall. With Kyle Phillips out for the spring, Vereen will have ample opportunity to establish himself as the other starting defensive end before the fall. Derrell Taylor will certainly provide competition, but Vereen has a leg up on him in terms of development and experience. It’s time for Vereen to shine.
