Lawsuit Update: Trial Location Disputed; Former Coaches Are Potential Witnesses

A new filing in the Title IX lawsuit from eight plaintiffs against the University of Tennessee listed some familiar names potential witnesses including former Tennessee coaches Bruce Pearl, Derek Dooley and Lane Kiffin, according to The Tennessean.

Also addressed in the new filing is the location of the trial, with the plaintiffs requesting to keep the case in Nashville, where the lawsuit was initially filed, to avoid the “trauma and mental anguish that would come with holding the trial in close proximity to the football program,” according to the report.

UT filed a motion last week to move the case to Knoxville, where the actions alleged in the lawsuit occurred.

The lawsuit was originally filed on Feb. 9 with a major amendment, including a sworn affidavit from former wide receiver Drae Bowles being added on Feb. 24.
