The 64-page lawsuit filed against the University of Tennessee in early February contains multiple allegations and references to past incidents as it tries to argue that the University has shown “deliberate indifference” to alleged sexual assaults committed by student-athletes at the school.

According to the Associated Press, Tennessee filed a motion on Tuesday to have one of the references removed – the mention of a sexual harassment complaint against Peyton Manning that was made in 1996 by former UT athletic trainer Jamie Naughright.

The motion, according to the AP, says that reference should be struck “because of the utter lack of relevance” to the rest of the lawsuit.

The mention of Manning in the lawsuit has garnered a great deal of national attention, especially in light of the national conversation that has occurred surrounding Manning following his second Super Bowl title and the controversial article written by activist Shaun King surrounding Naughright’s 2003 affidavit against Manning in a legal battle over Manning allegedly breaking a non-disclosure agreement between the two parties.

Multiple local outlets have reported this week that two new plaintiffs have been added to the current lawsuit against the University this week, while WATE in Knoxville reported on Tuesday that two more football players will be added to the lawsuit, according to the attorney of one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

All 16 head coaches at Tennessee held a joint press conference on Tuesday morning to defend the school’s culture
