8. The Battle at Bristol
It’s rare that one game in a 12-game regular season is reason enough to get excited, but when that one game takes place on a NASCAR race track, then it’s completely understandable.
The Battle at Bristol on September 10th will be one of the biggest spectacles not only in college football history, but in all of football and sports history. It will likely set a record for the most attended American football game of all-time, and it will mark the first time a college football game has been played on a race track.
The game itself is an interesting match-up. The Vols will take on Virginia Tech, two schools that aren’t too far from each other but that have played very sparingly. Add in to the mix the fact that the Hokies hired former Memphis head coach Justin Fuente this offseason, and there’s even more intrigue.
But the game isn’t the main reason fans are getting excited. The whole event will be something never seen or experienced before, and it truly will be a historic event. It’s reason enough to look forward to the 2016 season.
