VFLs are on the Move As NBA Trade Deadline Approaches

Jarnell Stokes-1

There are five active former Vols in the NBA at this time. Three of them have been on the move this week.

The most recent news came Thursday afternoon when the Miami Heat reportedly shipped forward Jarnell Stokes to New Orleans in a cost-cutting move.

Stokes, who began his career with the Memphis Grizzlies, has seen minimal action for the Heat this year – appearing in just seven games with an average of 2.6 minutes per contest. The move away from Miami will separate Stokes from guard Josh Richardson, one of the two former Vols (C.J. Watson) in the NBA who haven’t been on the move this week.

Guard Jordan McRae was called back up from the NBA Developmental League to the Suns’ active roster earlier this week after McRae appeared the NBDL all-star game. McRae has appeared in six games for the Suns thus far with an average of 8.6 minutes per contest.

Forward Tobias Harris, who is averaging 13.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg, was dealt from the Orlando Magic to the Detroit Pistons earlier this week as well. The NBA trade deadline is 3 pm ET on Thursday afternoon.
