1914 Zoras
In 1911 the Tennessee Athletic Department handed the reins of the men’s basketball, baseball, and more importantly, the football team to a young man named Zora Clevenger. In his time at UT, he posted a 26-15-2 record as head football coach. In 1914 he led the Gridiron Vols to their first undefeated season and their first Conference Championship by winning the SIAA (Southern Collegiate Athletic Association) championship. These uniforms are a modern spin to honor the Vols first big time football team that helped pave the way for all the success we have seen.
Back then the uniforms were black with orange horizontal stripes going down the sleeves. My “1914 Zoras” uniform uses the horizontal stripe motif as the basis for its unique design. The stripes are on the helmet, pants, sleeves and sublimated into the numbers as well. The helmet, jersey, and pants have a rarely used interlocking UT logo to hearken back to give the feel of the time period. The logo is on one side while the uniform number is on the other.
