Vol Alternate Uniform Options

Halloween

Nike Mach Speed Halloween copyIn 1963 the Vols hired a quirky fellow by the name of Jim McDonald. He only coached one year at Tennessee and floundered to a 5-5 record. Before the season he knew the product on the field would be hard to watch so he wanted something that would galvanize Halloween game shot copythe fanbase and gain the attention of recruits, so he introduced what is now commonly known as the “Halloween Uniforms” due to the orange and black color scheme. The traditional orange and white was replaced with orange and black. Black numerals were now on the helmet and jersey and they jersey had white-black-white UCLA (shoulder)  stripes. They were only worn for that season, then never seen again after McDonald was shown the door.

I wanted to bring these out of the past and modernize them. The helmet, Jersey, and pants have a rarely used vintage Vols logo on them that captures the feeling of ’63. The black numerals are added to the jersey. It felt strange putting black numbers on a Vol uniform.
