1. Latrell Williams, WR
When the Vols flipped Tyler Byrd from Miami on Tuesday night, he was the only player Vol fans expected to flip to Tennessee before or during National Signing Day. But wide receiver Latrell Williams became the second player to flip to the Vols in a 24-hour span, and he was even a Miami commit just like Byrd.
Williams came out of nowhere to sign with the Vols on Wednesday, so it’s understandable fans know little about him. But the more you hear about Williams, the more you’re going to like him.
Although just a three-star according to 247Sports, Williams has immense upside and is one of the fastest players the Vols have ever had on the roster. Williams reportedly has run a 4.27 second 40-yard dash, which would be elite speed if true. His highlight film seems to confirm that time.
As a senior for Columbia in Lake City, Florida, Williams caught 68 passes for 1,035 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also added 20 rushing attempts for 155 yards and two scores.
Williams is the most underrated player in this signing class because of his athleticism and freakish speed. He may not contribute immediately as a freshman, but he could be a threat in the passing game and on special teams in the future.
