1. The national ranking wasn’t there, but the quality still was
Tennessee finished 14th nationally in the 247Sports Composite ranking, which is solid, but not as impressive as the last two years. But you have to consider that the Vols didn’t have quite as many spots this year, and the final rankings do factor that in. On a per player ranking average, Tennessee’s 2016 class was actually ranked a touch higher than the more nationally-lauded 2015 and 2014 classes. So while it didn’t get the same national buzz, the quality is still there in this class for the Vols.
