5. TE Austin Pope

He’s not the highest ranked or the biggest guy on UT’s commitment list, but the Vols have very little proven behind Ethan Wolf at the the tight end position in 2016. Pope, a product of one of the best passing offenses in the state at Christian Academy of Knoxville, should come in as a polished route runner. And while he might not be ready to do a lot of in-line blocking as a true freshman, he could easily be a guy who can come in and run some routes to give Wolf a break from time to time. Fellow tight end commitment Devante Brooks will have the same opportunity, though he’s coming off a major injury, so we’ll have to wait and see how effective he is when he gets to campus.
