With Curt Maggitt definitely moving on, the Vols will be looking to find a permanent solution at defensive end opposite of Derek Barnett, who may only have one season left of his own in Knoxville if he goes pro following his junior year. Corey Vereen showed signs that he can be that guy last year. But behind him, there hasn’t been a ton of consistency and health at the defensive end position. Kyle Phillips needs to stay healthy and guys such as LaTroy Lewis and Dimarya Mixon have been just decent when called upon. Kongbo, a former UT commitment who is still heavily considering the Vols, could come in and immediately be in the two deep, and perhaps even push Vereen to play opposite of Barnett.
