Reranking the 2015 Tennessee Signing Class

Kirkland-1

 Linebackers

Darrin Kirkland Jr.
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? Even though he was a high four-star prospect, it still may have been a touch low. Kirkland is a stud and should’ve started from day one. He’s athletic, smart, strong and is going to be a star college linebacker and a likely future pro. I have no problem saying he should’ve been a five star.
Rerank: ★★★

Austin Smith
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? I think low four-star status might be more accurate for Smith. I thought he was a touch underrated coming out and the coaches really liked him this year. He saw some meaningful action as an outside linebacker and could grow into a defensive end as well. I think he’s going to play a lot of football for the Vols over the next few years.
Rerank: ★★★★

Quart’e Sapp
Initial ranking: ★★★★
Was it a good ranking? This one is tough to determine since he only played in four games before hitting the shelf with an injury. He’s a bit undersized at linebacker, but flies around and will certainly help on special teams as soon as next year. I’ll say high three-star status, but he certainly has upside.
Rerank: ★★★
