Report Card for the Vols’ 2015 Season

Joshua Dobbs-1-3

Quarterback

Josh Dobbs didn’t exactly regress as a passer in 2015, but he didn’t take many steps forward either. The Vols were much more of a run-oriented team this year, and in that regard Dobbs was phenomenal. He set the single-season mark for rushing yards by a quarterback for the Vols with 671 yards and 11 touchdowns. But his passing was inconsistent at times, as his completion percent actually fell several points from 2014 down to 59.6 this year. Dobbs did take care of the ball very well by only tossing five interceptions, but he only threw 15 touchdowns as well.

Dobbs and the passing game certainly wasn’t a liability, but they weren’t always a strength during games either. The passing game will need to make a good improvement in 2016 for the Vols to achieve their lofty goals.
