Running Backs

One of the most impressive running back groups in the entire country in 2015 was at the University of Tennessee. Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara were a dynamic duo who were also implemented effectively in Tennessee’s passing game. It’s hard to criticize a unit that ran for the most yards in program history in 64 years. Tennessee was able to run against each and every team they faced in 2015, and that’s including Alabama, Florida, and Oklahoma (despite the outcomes of those games).

Quarterback Joshua Dobbs turned in a historic performance on the ground for a UT quarterback, but Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara stole the show for the Vols’ offense this year. Hurd totaled 1,288 yards and 12 touchdowns while Kamara added 698 yards and 7 scores. Hurd is a punishing back who has more speed than you would assume, and Kamara can torch a defense while delivering some big hits of his own. The only real critique of the unit is that Kamara didn’t get enough touches, but if that’s you’re only problem with the running backs, then it was definitely a good year.
